What is Carbon Laser Treatment?

The treatment involves applying an activated charcoal paste to the skins surface. This detoxifying agent helps to remove dead skin, oil, make up, product residue, environmental toxins, and pollutants from the pores.

How These Laser Treatments Work

The laser energy pulse works at an incredible speed, almost at a billionth of a second. Firstly, it gently targets melanin (pigment) in the cells, breaking it down for your body’s natural removal processes. Secondly, it creates heat deep within the dermis, causing the skin to contract and stimulate collagen production.

In a carbon laser treatment, a layer of thick charcoal paste is applied evenly to the skin and allowed to dry for a few minutes. Then our experienced doctor with apply varying laser intensities to gently drive the carbon molecules into the skin. The carbon works its magic by drawing out impurities, whilst the Nd-YAG laser simultaneously gently removes the carbon particles from the pores. Before your treatment, our doctor will meet with you to conduct an in-depth skin consultation at our Bayside clinic. We will work with you to create a tailored treatment plan and advise of any pre- treatment instructions.

On the day of your carbon laser treatment, before photographs are captured to begin your transformation, the skin is cleansed and prepared for treatment. The following passes will be undertaken within the hour:

  • Pass 1: Applying the laser energy to your skin, you will hear a slight snapping sound and feel a slight tingling or warmth.
  • Pass 2: We apply a light layer of charcoal paste onto your skin. This paste has a carbon base, so your skin will appear as if you are wearing a mud mask. The specialised Q switch laser wave-length will then accelerate the paste into the skins surface.
  • Pass 3: The laser energy lightly removes the charcoal paste, heating the dermis, and lightly removing the top layer of dead skin. The laser energy breaks up pigment which is then carried away by your body, and the heat causes the dermis to contract whilst stimulating the production of collagen.

The process of laser toning is the same as carbon laser (see above), with exception to the application of the carbon paste.

  • Suitable for most skin types

  • Minimal downtime – some people may experience redness or a light warm tingling sensation for 1-2 hours after treatment

This treatment can be used alongside microdermabrasion, LED light treatment, and radio frequency skin tightening for enhanced results.

A recovery gel mask is applied at the end of your treatment for further hydration and comfort. This gel is designed to soothe the skin post-treatment. Our doctor will also provide you with any post care instructions.

No, the treatment is not painful. You might feel a slight warm, tingling sensation post treatment. When the laser hits the skin, there will be a mild snapping or heating sensation.
